Lauren Skousen Photography bio picture

WELCOME!

My name is Lauren Skousen. I’m a Southern California based photographer, but am available to travel anywhere! I specialize in on location children, family, senior and lifestyle portraits (I do photograph a select number of weddings each year). I have been happily married to my husband for 5 years. We have a beautiful daughter and son! My love and passion for photography began when I was young. I can remember making a studio in my home and taking pictures of my sisters with my mom’s film camera. After my daughter was born, I decided to further pursue my passion of photography. I enjoy being able to provide beautiful memories for others! I always say that I have the best job...I love what I do!

If you have any questions regarding my photography services, please email me. I look forward to capturing timeless memories of your life!

Glendora, CA Family Photographer : The {L} Family

It’s always a good reason to take family photos, when most of your kids have moved out of state and are finally all together for the holidays! I had the pleasure of photographing the {L} Family the day after Christmas. I grew up with this family in my ward at church, so it was fun to catch up with them a bit. I feel kind of old seeing how the girls that are below me are almost done with college, in college, etc.

It was hilarious trying to capture photos of all the kids jumping in the air! My favorite part is that things like this capture true smiles and happiness!

I love when clients trust me! I looked up and spotted this tiny available area (in the mud), up on the hill. I loved the light and the twigs in the backdrop, so I asked them if they’d be willing to take our last shot in this location. After several minutes of trying to maneuver in the small space, on an incline, in the mud, we finally got their placements! I am so glad they trusted me and didn’t complain or say no, because I really like this photo!

Glendora, CA Family Photographer : The {C} Family

I was delighted when Katie asked if I would be available to take their family photos on Christmas Eve. We were able to do the session in the early afternoon, before all of the family festivities! When I showed up, the family was all dressed in their beautiful attire! Seriously, this is one good looking family! I really enjoyed my session with the {C} Family!

With extended sessions, it’s tricky to get all of the kids looking…I have to get pretty silly to get their attention (I’m sure all the adults during these kind of sessions are embarassed for me inside, lol)!

Such a cute couple!

Such gorgeous kids…

Glendora, CA Family Photographer : The {F} Family

I have known the {F} Family for quite some time! My dad and grew up with Doug, and then I was on the High School Swim team with the kids! Kirsty, told me that it had been years since she and her family had a photo together, and they thought it would be nice to get it while all of the family was in town and together for Christmas. It was fun to get to meet all of the adorable grandkids!

This one on the porch is one of my favorites from their session…

We worked hard to get these girls to both at least look at the camera at the same time. They weren’t diggin’ being photographed!

I love getting photos of grandma and grandpa with all the grandkids during exteneded family sessions!

Thanks again for using me as your family photographer…I had a great time catching up with your beautiful family!

Glendora, CA Childrens Photographer : Brothers

My sister is the nanny to these two handsome boys! At last minute, we thought it would be fun to do a quick little photo session and print some of the photos to give to their parents as a surprise Christmas present! Photos really do make great photos!

We had fun taking the photos! Sometimes it’s refreshing to be able to take photos for fun, without any pressure…this impromptu session was just that! I got to try out a new location and enjoyed photographing good looking boys in some awesome light!

These series of photos are so {E}! And as a sidenote, my 3yr old girl has quite the crush on this little man! She loves when we have playdates with him and talks about him often!

San Dimas, CA Family Photographer : Cousins

I was so excited to be able to photography Ronell’s family again! The twins have grown up so much since the last time I saw them. This time her brother, Nathan, and his cute little family joined so they could get photos together for their parents!

They chose this location because they loved the quiet little park and the trees…it just so happened that in the middle of the session, a party came over to use the trees for a pinata. Needless to say, the kids would not look at me or the camera. We were able to get some good photos, despite the circumstances!

Claremont, CA Family Photographer : The {T} Family

This family photo session has been several months in the making! We were going to do an extended family session over Labor Day weekend; however, I was going to out of town. Then we were finally able to plan a mini-session with just their family, but we had to postpone it due to rain…I was so bummed. It was exciting to finally get to meet the {T} Family! They’re such an adorable family! Their son was a ball of energy and a lot of fun to work with! I kept having to resist kissing and pinching the cheeks of their adorable little girl. I absolutely loved their choice of outfits!

I loved how their session turned out, here are my favorites…

Glendora, CA Family Photographer : The {W} Family

The {W} Family brings back fond memories for me…they were my very first client to photograph ever, two years ago. What a compliment to have them ask me to take their family photos a third time! Whenever I have repeat clients, I enjoy looking back at the previous year’s photos, to see how much the kids have grown-up (and to see how my photography has changed/improved over time)! Their mom always does such a great job of coordinating their outfits!

Here are my favorites from the mini-session…

Riverton, UT Childrens Photographer : 6 months old!

Thanksgiving day, I was also able to take photos of my cute niece! I can’t believe that she’s already 6 months old. She wasn’t really wanting to give me her big smile with her adorable dimples right then, but I still think that they’re cute ones of her!

Here are my favorites…

Such a sweetheart!

I just love this age! Not to mention, it’s a perfect age to photograph because they’re usually able to sit up, but not usually mobile enough to have to run after for photos (like how my son is right now, lol)!

Riverton, UT Childrens Photographer : The Hunter Kids

While visiting Utah, my sister-in-law asked if I could get some quick shots of her kids while on Thanksgiving! I tried to make it as quick as possible, since the kids would rather be playing with all of the cousins! I can’t believe how fast they are all growing up! It’s crazy how fast time seems to be going!

Mollie is in love with horses, and it just so happens that there were horses on the lot where we were taking their photos. She asked that I take a photo of her with the horses…

Bluffdale, UT Family Photographer : The {R} Family

I had the pleasure of photographing my husband’s cousin and her family while visiting Utah for Thanksgiving! This is the second time that I’ve been able to photograph their family. It’s always fun being able to have sessions with families each year, because I feel like I get to watch the kids grow! This year, they have a new addition to their family…such cute girls! I really enjoy photographing this family…just look at them, they’re a good-looking family!

The day of their session, it was really COLD (ok, 40* might not seem so bad to some, but I am a Calfornia girl and am not used to these kinds of temperatures)! The girls were freezing, the sun was a little bright in some areas, and we had a little accident with not making it to the bushes soon enough for a potty break (but we were creative and used arm warmers to replace her tights). Despite it all, they were troopers and we got some great photos!

Here are some favorites from the session!

I LOVE this one…there’s something that I just love about capturing the love a parent has for their child!

At this point, the girls were not giving smiles so freely, so I told them to just have fun interacting together…sometimes, these candid ones are my favorites!

See, that break did them good…we got some cute smiles after!

Another one of my favs!
